Curatorial Statement

Shades of Grey is an innovative virtual exhibition where eight young artists use their drawing skills and techniques to create another dimension for the dungeons beneath SCA. The audience is enticed to consider the environments’ gloomy history and the work selected to be exhibited.

The exhibition space itself that has been selected has a cell like quality and is filled with posts giving the audience a sense of being in gallery of catacombs. These posts that are centered in the space allow the audience to wander around the exhibition and become involved in each work individually, creating a maze to meander through.

The content of the exhibition is a variety of drawing and the reflection of these images in the virtual space that was inspired by a section of the SCA dungeons. Drawing is a really important part of every artist's practice and an art form that is very flexible and can be used in so many different ways.
